Osmo
Hydration guidance for every run.
Fall 2025 | 8 weeks
Software: Rhino, Solidworks, Keyshot, Figma
Skillset: Prototyping, UI/UX, CAD, soft goods,
visualization & animation
Osmo is an adaptive hydration system
that gives runners personalized hydration
guidance, based on real-time sweat data.

Running as a sport is booming. Yet fueling hasn't kept pace.

5% DEHYDRATION
30% PERFORMANCE LOSS
There is no single
hydration formula.
Sweat loss varies widely (0.5–2.0 L/h),
shaped by the individual run speed and
temperature conditions.

Solutions are fragmented,
none guide behavior.
Supplements, wearables, and bottles each solve one piece
of the problem, but none tell you what to actually do.

Speaking with a diverse set of runners revealed
"Hydration is guesswork"
How might we turn hydration
guesswork into guidance that
adapts mid-run?

Weightless

Tactile
Finding the right fit.
Spandex mockups, with 3D-printed
sensors, were tested on the hand for
fit, coverage, and sensor placement.

Exploring the sensor's form and size.
The sensor's form, interaction controls, and mounting
mechanism went through dozens of iterations to judge
size and feel on the hand.

Prototyping the
usability experience.
Testing the sensor's magnetic
attachment, glove fit, and bottle
mounting mechanism.

Refining within a fixed design direction.
With a circular base form set, CAD iterations explored
the right balance of proportions between the sensor body,
magnetic attachment, and status LED.

For runners who want
more than a summary.

Designed to be light enough
to forget it's there.
A recycled polyester-elastane blend keeps it
soft and breathable, heat-bonded and sealed
with TPU at points that carry the most stress.

Since runners mostly grip the bottle and only let go
briefly, the band stays minimal, held secure by stretch
resistance and silicone grip pads.

Long-distance runners already carry
more hydration in a vest, so the glove
works on its own.

Everyday runners that run shorter
distances need less, so a single bottle
mounts directly onto the glove.
